Revisiting r2's Terms of Use

Recently, I noticed r2 updated their terms of use.  It has changed completely.  The biggest hang-up I had with all r2 games is at one point, it was illegal to share your password with other players (and they never enforced it).  On the December 30, 2015 Terms of Use update, it states the following:

"At the time of account creation, you will be required to set a password. Your password should be treated with care and should be kept confidential."

It looks like that you are NOW allowed to share your password with other players. Prior to this update, you were not.  The terms of service in one of my earlier post said the following:

"You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and are responsible for any harm resulting from your disclosure, or authorization of the disclosure of your password or from any person's use of your password to gain access to your account or account name. At no time should you respond to an online request for a password other than in connection with the log-on process to the Services. Should it be determined that you did reveal your password to any third parties, R2Games reserves the right to disable the account."

I checked r2's Q & A section and this quote still remains:

"Someone is piloting another player's account. Piloting is definitely not encouraged and is against our Terms of Service."

I am confused, is it ok or not ok to pilot accounts? The term "third party" is confusing because I am not sure how to interpret it.  Does it mean third party as someone outside your IP address?  An advisor?  Since r2 claims it is against their Terms of Service, can they really enforce it because in December 30, 2015 update, you should not share your password?

If you are seriously considering playing any Multi-player games, you need to check up on the gaming sites Term of Use.   You need to figure out what your hang-ups and what you are willing to put up with.  Consult a lawyer if you are planning on spending money on it before doing it. You need to know if you can seek "damages" if the gaming company fails to enforce Terms of Service to the fullest extent.  I know some people will  say "it's just a game."  I will argue that it is NOT just a game if you are investing your money on it.

As for any r2 games, if you had a hang up with people piloting accounts, find a different gaming company.  If you don't mind it or are planning on doing it, play their games.

More screw-ups

Every time I play wartune, I keep becoming more cynical.  Some examples are:

* Getting matched with a heavy casher in player vs player events.

* Heavy cashers in my guild who share heir accounts with others which is against wartune's TOU.

* In Tower of Kinds nightmare, there is a narcissistic casher who will purposely park a "sylph" that can heal and cast shields making it very difficult to find people to beat it. (And the heavy cashers who share their accounts won't help me in my mp runs although I haven't asked them to help)

* They keep nerfing their consumption events making it worse by giving less items.

*Dev's lack of communications about numerous in-game settings

Then people complain when the developers screw up:

I should have snapped some screenshots of some comments that were made regarding this error as usual, people who spend money on the game complain about it.  I give some credit for r2 already making an announcement about the error but I don't believe one bit that the developers are "working hard to fix the issues."  They never work hard, except for ignoring players (unless you spend $2000 per week, then maybe they will listen).  It took them over 24 hours to "compensate" people. It should have been fixed or resolved in 1-2 hours if they claim they are "working hard."   Boy, I sure wish I have gotten into the "free to play" game business since there are many people out there that would rather be the strongest player than demand quality & customer service!

I wonder if cashers would go to the same store again if they bought spoiled food?  How about a restaurant that doesn't know how to cook a steak?  I am sure that if these place listed their "top" customers and post it all over the store, I bet the cashers would still spend!

Wartune maintenance observation 2/25/2016

As suspected, it only takes three weeks before r2/proficient city goes back to their old ways and believes that their players only are entitled to a five hour notice before the "weekly maintenance."

I sure hope that since cashers are not bothered by this that they are only given a "five" hour notice if they need to do an activity in their real life (perhaps a five hour notice that they need to be at their part-time job?) .

Any game sites that host "League of Angels" deserves to be boycotted

On my facebook wall this morning, I saw the following post for a game:

I decide to do a websearch of "felspire" just to check the type of games they host.  I find out that they are run by 37Games.  Checking to see what games they host, I found league of angels.

Apparently 37Games supports rotten customer service.  Why?  R2 hosts wartune.  I have done numerous entries on how awful their customer service is to wartune. R2 also hosts league of angels.  Thus any other gaming site that hosts league of angels likes to scam players by allowing players to brazenly violate their terms of service because R2 hosts wartune.  Kongergate and kabam are other sites that deserve to be boycotted because they also support ripping off their paying customers.

If 37Games wants to save their reputation, I recommend that they drop all of their games that R2, kongergate, and kabam hosts for starters unless of course they have plans on ripping off their customers or ignoring them, such as League of Angels. 500,000 players in my opinion are probably getting scammed playing felspire.

Wartune ranks people with who pays the most, not skills

I have a question to wartune developers..... why does battle rating trump skills in your monthly events such as "class wars" or "clash of the titan?"  Better yet, why does your battle ranking only count for your placement of finals in these events instead of your preliminaries rank?

Oh, I know why.  It's to reward people who spend copious amounts of money on your stupid game in which you rip them off and scam people; not people with skills.  You don't care nor respect any cashers which is the main reason why I started this blog.  You only listen to people who foolishly spend over $2000 a month.

With this kind of behavior, if you want to be one of the top players in these kind of event, you need to spend thousands of dollars per month because skills don't matter...only your battle rating.  Otherwise, don't even bother spending a dime.  Even if you are a strategic casher; your skills won't mater.  As long as you place in the top 100 preliminaries ranking, your battle rating will trump your rank.  So, if someone with a high battle rating loses more rounds than someone with a lower battle rating, and they both make the finals, the person with the high battle rating will have a better ranking than the player with the lower battle rating.

Also, the finals is split between two halls.  One for the top 16, and the other for 17-100.

As you can see, this ranking system is quite unfair to the people who are near rank 16 and are skillfull players.  Even if their preliminary ranking is greater than 16 but they have a lower battle rating, they wouldn't be able to participate in the warlord's hall.

This is yet another reason to consider before spending money on a game that is "free to play" game... figure out how ranking is determined in competitive events because like wartune, they may rank people by how much money they spend, NOT skills.

Player vs Player etiquettes

Lately, during some player vs player events, I'll see people who are somewhat stronger than me go into "away from keyboard" (afk) mode and not do anything because they know they will win that battle.  Instead of finishing me off quickly, they will waste my time.  Another pet-peeve of mine is that instead of finishing me off quickly, they will just heal and kill me slowly.  This pisses me off and I am sure there are others out there who feel the same way.

So please stop it.  If you are going to participate in player vs player events, kill off your opponents quickly and stop wasting their time.  You will gain some respect.  If you don't, don't be surprised that you will not be well liked or if you end up on someone's hall of shame.

Perhaps games like wartune should add a feature in which if a player does "afk," add a feature if you want to concede and give a 10 second time limit for other player to respond.  No response means a "yes."  That will solve this problem if players' etiquettes don't.

Wartune is acting like they don't want new players to play their game

I have always wondered if wartune has any interests in attracting new players or not.   I will make the case that they don't want new players.  Here are my reasons why:

Exchange/Consume Soul Crystals to Training Whips, Consume Training Whips to get Gems, Synthesize Gems to obtain Soul Crystals
Very early on in wartune, they cycled these events.  It was quite easy and fun to increase your strength this way.  Then all of a sudden these events either changed or stopped.  You couldn't trade in your soul crystals for gold or training whips any more. They stopped soul crystal consumption events.  That is not fair to the new people since older players were able to do this.

Hard to level slowly
Back in the day when the highest honor would get you lord divine title, I camped at lv 59.  I intentionally stayed at that level to max out my honor before leveling.  Battleground was easy to get honor since it was divided by what level you were on.  Experience points back then was hard to get.  Now, the game will give you copious amounts of exp which makes it hard to level slowly.  Plus, since many players are now at 80 (which is the max level not counting advanced skills) even if you level slowly, there will hardly be players at your battleground due to less people starting a new game.  They even reduced the exp needed to level up.

Less gold from World Boss
Proficient city refuses to answer questions on why they are choosing not to raise the HP of world boss.  Many times, WB took over 20 minutes to kill thus you can get gold.  Now, it tales 3 minutes to kill.  Just think on the new servers people who cash will be able to hit WB harder than people who don't cash thus people who don't cash will get far less gold than others since WB will fall fast.  People would argue that  in Dragon Invasion will get lots of gold there, but it is still hard to get gold for people who are weak unless someone strong is willing to carry the weaker person through.

Group Arena
GA at one point was matched by character level.  People who leveled slowly and tried to make their character strong for their level had the biggest advantage (unless you were maxed) since you would only run into people of the same level.  Somewhere around 5.0, 5.1, or 5.2 build, arena pairings were changed.  Now, you will be paired up what seems to be at any level.  This puts people at the low level huge disadvantage because they will lose, maybe lose upto 100% of matches.  GA items for them much harder to get because of this.  Even the points that people receive for win/losses are inconsistent.  Proficient city once again refuses to answer questions on why they changed the group arena matching & inconsistencies on points.

No "unlimited" gem synthesis events
Gem events at one point in which that if you synthesized a gem, you would be able to claim another. For example, if you have 4 lv 4 gems, you can create one lv 5 gem by synthesizing three lv 4 gems.  Then you were able to claim a reward.  Now, they stopped this and added a feature in which if you contained an x amount of gems you can claim this reward.  Really unfair to the new players.

Raising levels on synthesis events
At one point, lv 5 gems & lv 3 & 4 resistance crystals did could for events.  Not no more.  I could make the argument that with resistance crystals are much easier to get than before but still..... they shouldn't have removed the lower levels.

Removal of unlimited eudaemon events
Dolygames posted in a facebook post the following:
"The reason they removed unlimited events for Eudaemon skills, resistances, RES reduction, upgrade and war emblem is because of the new ability in Patch 5.5 to sell Eudaemons which they say makes these unlimited events "inappropriate" and players might use these events in an "unfair way"."
Very stupid in my opinion.  Again, not fair for new players since existing players was able to take advantage of this event.

Tower of Kings difficulty
As characters get stronger, so does opponents in Tower of Kings.  That is because their strength is determined by the top 16 players.  Even easy is too hard for newer players.  Easy's opponents will only get harder as people get stronger putting new players at an even more disadvantage.  They probably won't be able to pass easy even if they play a year unless they get help.

Server Mergers
Since less people are populating the newest servers, proficient city will have no choice but to merge them to a server that existed a lot longer putting the newer players at a huge disadvantage.  Course if the older people are kind, they may help them out but that is hit and miss.

If a game can't attract new players to come on board, the game will be on a death spiral.  How do you expect the game to survive when more people quit then play?  You need to attract new players and help them catch up to the existing players in order for the game to survive.  Clearly wartune isn't doing that and all cashers will lose their investments once the game shuts down.

Wartune's Beneficial Bugs

Since r2 & proficient city refuses to enforce their Terms of Service to the fullest extent (ex:  suspending/banning players who share their passwords and sell their accounts), I've decided to list all of the beneficial bugs that currently exist currently in v5.5.  I encourage anyone who plays wartune to use them to the fullest extent.

Extra Attempts in Group Arena and Eudaemon Arena:
You only get 15 attempts per day in Group Arena and 10 attempts per day in Eudaemon arena.  Want to increase it by one more (or more if you are lucky)?  When the battle starts in either arena, quickly refresh, go into the arena you are running and hit start.  Since your last battle is still going, you may get lucky and get sucked into another battle (it is hard to do in group arena since pairings take 50 seconds to match). Vola, a free extra attempt!  Heck, you could maybe get a second free attempt if any of your battles don't end by a second refresh!  However, if any of your battles end, that's it; you have used your last attempt.
Note:  if one of your battles ends, and you haven't finished a battle you are in, you will get either "Victory" or "Failure" even though your current one isn't finished and be kicked from the battle.  The battle you got kicked from will still go on but you will be afk.  Once that battle finishes, you will get the reward.

Win 10 times in Eudaemon Arena:
Did you get paired with a rotten customer service supporter and can't win the battle?  Simply refresh right before you die and the attempt won't count!  This only benefits people who are decent in strength and are willing to devote extra time in doing this.  I wouldn't recommend doing this is you are weak because you may constantly match up with people that are stronger than you thus wasting a lot of time.

Multiple Player events - Wind Ranger Poison skills stacks
Do you have many people in your group that have skills that can poison your enemy?  For each wind ranger you have, you can add extra poison effects.  For instance, if three people have the poison skill, you can poison your opponent 3x!  Since it stacks upto 4, you can have the stacks three times causing triple the damage compared to having just one!

I wish I had more to share but this is all that I am aware of.  I am sure they will fix these at some point, but take full advantage while they last!

Latest r2 maintenance observation

I wish I had some more time in my life.  If I did, I would have made several more posts by now.   I hope to post some more soon as there are some topics wroth mentioning.  I do have something worth mentioning today.

In the latest wartune maintenance (2/4/2016), r2 gave a 48 hour notice.  It is an improvement but still not good enough.  They should be giving at least 72 hour notice including every detail on what they are changing or fixing.  Better yet, if weekly maintenance are set at a fixed time on any game, players should always have access to this information.  I don't see the need why the game needs to hide this kind of information.  It's logical for players to know this so they can always plan for it.

Give wartune a "red" light and prevent them from going onto steam

Wartune has made an announcement about 1-2 weeks ago that they want to be added to "Steam Greenlight"  When I first heard about it, I was quite annoyed because I have used Steam before and do chat with some of my family members on their chat program.  I told people that I knew that if Wartune would make it on Steam, I would boycott steam if it happens and will encourage others to do the same.  Apparently wartune paid $100 and is trying to get enough votes for the game to go on steam green.

Based on some research I did, apparently after a company or anyone who made a game wants Steam Green to host their game, all they need to do is pay $100 and ask people to vote for it.  If they get enough votes ( haven't figured it out), then it goes through digital paperwork.  Since wartune is a pay to win game, they would also need to negotiate how much revenue sharing they would do.

Unless I am interpreting this incorrectly, if steam accepts this game and ends up making money off this game through their revenue sharing, then stream will be supporting rotten customer service and I will start calling for the boycott of steam.  I strongly encourage ANYONE who uses steam and loves it to please vote "no" for wartune in their greenlight section.  You will be doing steam a huge favor in the long-run.  In addition, who knows if Wartune has any of their game content copyrighted since many other games uses identical features/names (term "sylphs" are used in League of Angels and wartune) in which steam needs to look into.

Proficient city incompetance after release of wartune v5.5

If proficient city & r2 keeps saying that they are sorry and sorry and sorry and sorry for all of their bugs and screw-ups, then why do they keep happening?  Why even bother forcing a random (or a server that spends the most) server to beta-test for bugs but doesn't actually fix them until a few days after it was released to all servers?

Before I answer that question, I am going to go over a few stupid things yet again proficient city did after their newest update for wartune.  They claimed that all major events such as class wars, chaos war, class of the titans, and so forth was now suppose to be held on Tuesday and Thursday instead of Thursday & Saturday.  Also, they moved cross-server guild battle from Sunday to Saturday.  Guess what?  Somehow this week, the chaos war was scheduled for Thursday and Saturday.  The cross server guild battle is also on Saturday.  So these two events will overlap.  Kind of stupid especially since I would estimate there are about 200 competitive active players per server (probably drops about 1-2 per week).  And as usual, they give out crap rewards and pretend they are sorry which they are not because these things keep on happening and people continue to spend money and continue to reward proficient city with this kind of behavior.

As long as proficient city keep coming up with strategic ways to get egotistic heavy cashers to keep on spending such as sweetening up the recharge deals and spending deals, heavy cashers will keep on paying.  Also, if people refuse to cancel their "VIP" membership (which you get crap junk and free cool-downs), you too are causing this kind of behavior.  Cancel your VIP and set up a macro (which I did and continue to use and will continue to use macro's on my account) until they stop.

another example of r2 believing players only deserve five hours notice for a "weekly" maintenance

Yet again, r2 decides to notify their players that they are doing their "weekly" maintenance and only give players less than five hour notice.  Would you give a "five" hour notice that your child has to go to school in "five" hours?  Would you wait until "five" hours from now that you planned an event that you want your significant other to go to (especially if they will cancel all of their plans)?  Would your hair stylist tell you "five" hours from now that you need to come in and get your hair done (I am sure you would look for a new one if they would pull something like that now would you)?  If your answer is "no" to any of my analogy that I placed, why do you continue spending money on wartune?

Wartune, please tell me how hard is it to tell players that your weekly maintenance will always occur on X day @ 4:00AM?  It is NOT hard at all, it is easy.  So quit doing that and players, quit rewarding them for this kind of crap.

R2/proficient believes one hour notice for a major game chance maintenance is enough notice for their players

Way to go again for two maintenances in a row.  Another ONE HOUR notice before pulling servers down which occurred on 1/25/2016.  The maintenance is for major game changes.  So, are cashers not entitled for this information?  You know, if people had an advance notice that the next update was coming on 1/25/2016, I bet there are players out there that would take off from their job and plan accordingly.  But does r2 & proficient city do that?  Nope.

I honestly don't get why r2/proficient pulls this kind of crap.  I also don't get why cashers (ANY cashers, including people who spend $7.99 per month on their VIP status) put up with this.  So, people who spend ANY kind of money are to blame.

I also noticed that in this maintenance, they are changing major events like dates for cross-server guild battle (was on Sunday now will be Saturday) , class/chaos wars (Thursday/Saturday now on Tuesday/Thursday).  I will argue that this is a major change because some people made sure that they can attend these events before playing but now..... there will be some people who spend money on this game and these new dates won't work for them.  The game should have gave all players a month notice for these changes.   So again, thank you cashers for rewarding, and I am sure you cashers will continue to reward r2/proficient city because you will see a deal and be like, "OMG, I never seen these items 5% off, I need to buy them!"

I wonder how many people will recharge after this maintenance today?  Also, how about how many new bugs will people find?  Based on what the bugs that occurred for arena rewards couple months ago, I bet these date changes for the events will be fowled up.

Yet another major bug on wartune

Kuudos to people who utilized the latest reported major bug on wartune pertaining to an event called "Sacred golden tree."  Quoted from  "Wartune Balen Guide:"

"In the Gold Tree, the game was checking if you have the balens or not for the draw - but it did not do the same check when counting attempts used and giving awards for them. This way, people who used the hack could get 700+ golden want each time the Gold Tree popped."
The only thing I could find on the internet showing this bug is here. Quoting more from the balen guide:

"Back in the early times of Wartune, the thing which impressed me most was the low number of bugs, and the security of the game: there were no cheats, hacks, the game was checking everything thoroughly server-side. In other words, my account was safe, I knew whatever I achieve by spending time and money, will not be outdone by people who can use simple hacks which add them millions of balens or other goodies. The game is now bugged beyond belief, so I'm afraid there are now more vulnerablities as well. Hackers either discovered these or will discover."

This is the third major bug that has been noted on wartune.  It seems that cashers don't seem to care that wartune lately has been quite vulnerable to bugs and the developers do an awful job at trying to fix it.   I am respecting cashers less and less each time a bug is found.

So if you do play wartune, it seems like if you re-arrange items or can't buy an item because you don't have enough in-game currency; close it out, and re-open (or re-fresh the game), you may get duplicate items or the game may think you did some attempts and qualified you for some free attempts!

proficient city believes 30 minute notice for"regular" maintenance is enough time

Again r2 believes players are entitled for a 30 minute notice before they do a server maintenance on 1/22/2016.  On top of that, they won't even go into detail on what changes they are making.     It is quite rude and disrespectful to players if you only allow this kind of short notice.  You ONLY give this kind of notice for an emergency maintenance, not for regular maintenance.  Besides, why even bother for a maintenance when you have planning on adding more junk to the game in a few more days?

Shame on the cashers who keep rewarding this kind of behavior by forking over their wallets.

player vs player

Games like wartune offer their characters to battle each other in a group or solo setting.  Usually, the winner gets rewards and the loser can get some rewards (at least 50% less than winners) or lose something like rank or an attribute.  At times, I wonder why heavy cashers even bother with some player vs player (pvp) events because they are willing to spend their money to buy items that are offered in pvp shops.  Also, pvp can be time consuming.  If a casher wants to save time, they should skip pvp and buy the items.

I get quite annoyed when I run into a heavy casher in pvp because at times I wonder if they really need the items they are trying to get in pvp shops.  They have enough cash to buy items, why make someone else life miserable or set them back?  A player gloating/bragging about their strength just makes it worse because I interpret it as they support rotten service, they liked having things jammed up their tush, and they are rich and rather spend money on themselves before others.  (I am sure there are players who are not fortunate and trying to pay bills, why not help them out instead?)

I believe that for battles in which you are able to get items for winning,  you should only be allowed certain amount of wins before you can't get anymore items.  Also, if you lose, that loss shouldn't be counted.  Instead, let that player try again and keep trying until they reached the cap.  This would solve some of this.  Also, people similar strength should be paired up but that will be saved for another topic.

I also believe that in pvp events, there should be an option to increase your strength during a battle and it should be dependent on how much in-game currency you spent on the game along with your strength.  Thus if you run into an extremely strong character, you can spend a tiny amount on in-game currency to boost your stats for that battle while that casher needs to spend copious amounts to respond to the boost.   Let the casher burn a lot of their money if they choose to respond (and make the game more money) if they desperately want to be ranked a top player or desperately want items in which it would be cheaper for them to buy.

These suggestions in my opinion should solve most issues with pvp events and probably attract more players (and encouraging many more players to spend a little amount per month thus increasing revenue for the game) to their game.

Thursday, January 14, 2016

I heard many good things about a solid state drive (such as how it reduces the time your computer starts/shut down because all of the data is readily accessible and not like a traditional hard drive where it has to find it on a disk) and I have been getting sick and tired of the lag that wartune provides.  So I took some advice and built a new computer.  Well I had no other choice but to build one if I wanted to go solid state route.  Anyhow, my thinking was that if I would get a better computer (16GB ram, 8GB graphics card) this would eliminate the problems I was having on wartune.

I was wrong.  It did however help greatly with the lag and I can record my game w/o my game crashing so I can see if my macro's are working, but at times, the game crashes and I get black screens.  I honestly don't understand how some people would rather spend $5,000 on items in the game where they mark them down and in return have to deal with these problems.

Can someone please explain to me why you spend under these conditions?
